I spent the entire day sitting in a tree stand getting in a few minutes after daylight and out at dark. Ive hunted all day numerous times and have yet to see a single deer in all the times Ive done it. Anyone have an opinion on why that might be? The club I hunt on is not covered up with deer but we kill deer in the cutover I was hunting today. Would also like to hear from other hunters that sit all day. Do you see deer and opt not to shoot or do you get down as frustrated as I am right now?

I have sat all day and passed on many deer on several occasions. But there will always be those days when you couldn't get them in sight with fire and bulldozers. Maybe next year will start out better for you. A day hunting without seeing deer is still better than a day not hunting and not seeing deer.

I've sat all day without seeing a deer and sat seen a few move at lunch and seen more.

Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

I pick my all day hunts carefully. It's gotta be cold or dropping temps, IMO.

Frustrating day???? I call any day in the woods wonderful. To see a deer is a plus.
Just the way I approach it.

I've been doing the same down here. A local WMA has a 12 day (yes,12 day) small game hunt where hogs are legal. I been hitting it pretty hard. After work and on weekends with my son. I'd really like him to connect. LOTS of hog sign, but they've yet to make an appearance. Gets frustrating!!!!

Any day in the woods is good for me - deer or no deer. Maybe you should take up bird watching if not seeing deer gets you so frustrated.

Thank you. This is the kind of info I was looking for when I started this thread. I know that being in the woods is far better than being most other places. To see God's handiwork in the sunrise and sunset, in seeing & hearing the heaviest frost we've had all year along with the remaining ice and snow melt away sounding like rain in the trees. To see the fog lift revealing things you couldn't see before. Every sound & movement grabbing your attention. What a wonderful place to be but I think everyone would agree that it is more enjoyable when we have the opportunity to stock our freezer whether we take it or not. I love being in the woods & I enjoy venison on my plate as well. How many of us would go sit in a tree all day long knowing that we were not going to see anything other than the kind of things I have described? I would go but certainly not sit all day. So please, forgive my frustration.

You couldnt pay me to sit in a tree all day.My killin hours are between daylight-10am and 2pm-dark..If i cant kill a goat between them hours i might as well give up.Im sure setting all day without seeing deer is a quick way to get burnt out.

I've done the all day sits before. And Inevitably I stay at home the next day.

I think I'm just getting old. Fishing is becoming more appealing.

I sat in a climber last year from daylight till dark and the only deer I saw were a 7 point and 9 point between 1200-145.. I felt it the next day in my back

Location, location, location. I've hunted some bad locations and not seen deer day after day. I try to be more selective of where I go and when I sit all day. Trail cameras help me elimate wasted time in areas with no mature deer. I'd start next year off trying to pattern the deer with cameras to save time. And maybe hunt different land if camera surveys from Feb/March don't show enough deer in the area.
