killed an eight point at the old Black Muslim place right at 500 yards, same gun, third shot.

best shot I ever made on a deer was a doe at 250 yards standing offhand....264WM

All killed with monolithic solids except the one that dropped dead. Ballistic tip got him grin

never shot monolithic solids

pretty sure the NBT had slowed down quite a bit. You know I said I didn't like BTs, never said I didn;t kill a gazillion deer with them.... grin

long is different for everybody...

one of the witness' to the 625 yard kill was my girlfriends grandaddy who shot an iron sighted 742. Prolly never killed a deer over 100 yards. I asked him what he thought about that shot. He said "I saw you do it and you're still a damn liar"...LOL

I killed a doe right at 400 yards one evening with my 264WM. At the lodge supper table that night I quietly told my buddy I may have to get that barrel fixed, I thought I might of "stretched " it a bit. laugh Cajun hunter sitting across from me overheard the distance and all but called me a liar right there. Almost came to blows right at the supper table. Idiot prollly couldn't hit a deer at 100 yards... loco

shot another doe one afternoon while hunting off horses with my four year old daughter. She was standing behind me when I shot at a doe near 400 yards. I asked her if I hit it....she said "you shot didn't you"...LOL gotta love kids.

Killed two does on 4 shots with 300 win mag 165gr Sierra GameKing HP. The distance was not so much what I was proud of with these to kills. The fact that I was 33' up in a lock on and used a home made monopod out of an old broom handle is what I remember most. One dropped at 402 and the other 386 across a pasture. Actually shot one of them in the ear with the first shot and neck with the second. The third shot was a clean miss and the fourth was top of shoulder on the second doe. Fortunately at long distances most deer that are not hit don't run so you get more opportunities.

What is it with you old game wardens and the 264WM? grin
I watched this guy neck shoot a doe at over 250 yards AT NIGHT using a 264. I was holding the Q-beam, another warden was using binocs to tell the shooter where the neck was in relation to the eye. At that distance, using the optics of the 70s, you could only see the eye in a scope, but could see the body in binocs. We know it was a litle over 250 yards, because the deer was just beyond the 250 yard marker on the Ft. Rucker driving range.

418 yards with a 30-06 a few years ago. My buddy was sitting beside me when I shot. 8 point . Shot a black coyote at 350 this year, I was aiming for his nose and missed by a half inch and took out his front teeth. 53 yard bow kill on a doe.

it's because we recognise the best when we see it...I personally don't think there is a better whitetail cartridge made.

486 yards with a Browning A-Bolt .270 when I was 14. Ranged with a Leica rangefindee. My grandndad witnessed it.

Several others over 300 yards. Most recently last year, 327 yards with the same Browning rifle.

You get lots if opportunities when you grow up hunting 8 miles of powerline.

Turkeys be damned.

BGH, I shot at a nice Red Stag in way northern Scotland one fine blustery day. Not much wind where we were but the stag was across a valley, maybe 175 yards. At the shot my buddy saw debris fly about a foot to the right of the stags hind end, he was facing left. FOUR feet from where I aimed. The Ghillie was not impressed....till we walked out around the hill and there was a 75+mph wind blowing up that valley!!! shocked Talk about wind drift. We went after the stag and set up directly downwind and killed him at 150 yards. This was with a 270Weatherby Mag.

I got knocked over flat several times that day, later learned the wind was gusting to over 100mph!!!!

I put the cross hair about 1' to the right of her nose. The bullet hit her very low about 8" behind her elbow.

Shot a mule deer doe last week at 323 yards in center of the neck, and I was actually aiming there! I've shot animals at longer distances in the body, but that was the best semi-long range shot. Shot 9 more mule deer does on the same trip last week, and all of those were under 200 yards, seven of them neck/head shots.
Longer shots were custom 300WM, shorter were suppressed 308 M700. Yes, it was legal there. No, it wasn't game fenced.

I shot a dove with a Crossman bb gun at 87 ft. It was the Monday after opening day. Dang dove landed across the road and a guy that worked with me happened to have his leaned up against the wall by a the water cooler. I said look at that dang dove making fun of me. I grabbed the bb gun and pumped it up 10 times. Held about 12 inches over its head and squeezed the trigger. Hit the dove didn't kill it so I run over and snatched its head off cleaned it and throwed it on the grill we used to cook dinner at work sometimes. Guy still thinks I am the best shot ever.

About 190-yards plus or minus a couple.
