I agree with ya'll. No different than any other food source IMO. Put a pile of corn in the middle of a food plot and see if the deer don't go straight to it instead of eating the grass or whatever you have planted,it is different than any other food source

Didn't want to hijack another thread, but something EarlPitts said reminded me. I've heard several people blame feeding corn as the culprit of low deer sightings this season. What's yall's opinions on deer becoming nocturnal due to corn? I'm interested to hear the basis of these theories. The people whos blaming corn on low deer sighting dont have corn out.All the deer are on their neighbors property rolling in his cornpile during the day and have no reason to come to the property with no corn.Duh I have heard a lot of folks say this very thing

I think corn may be good somewhat. But I wouldn't try to replace habitat with it.The nocturnal thing can be multiple factors, pressure being the biggest.Another thought would be...If the deer knows the food is there why move during daylight to eat it?Corn or greenfield.I have some success with filling a five gallon bucket up with fallen acorns and relocating them to a deer trail.Scatter them out naturally and put some vanilla scent out along with a trail cam.My trail cam can hold 2500 pics so I checked it 3 weeks after.Daylight feeding was more than at night.Nothing I want too hunt though. So I didn't even bother going too that spot.

If you put a peckerhead sitting on top of it every time they come it probably would. Truest thing ever said about hunting over corn..... Like everything else in life...there is an art to it...

you are so scared of corn feeders you would think it was the black plaque!! Corn has nothing to do with anything but bad hunters and laziness. Hunted over corn for years deer sightings go up and first and then go down over time!! Geez he was just asking opinions. And you've been hunting over corn for years? Talk about laziness dude. What is your definition of a "good" hunter?

What is your definition of a "good" hunter? Anyone who wants to see just how "lazy" keeping corn out needs to come sack corn with me 2 nights a week after dark...and feed all of it after dark. You go to slinging around those 75-85 pound "big boy bags" ( as another illustrious aldeer member called them...who just so happens couldn't kill an alligator at a gator farm) by the truckload you wouldn't be calling it "lazy"... You'd be calling it a pain in the A$$....

I just finished reading Dr. Sheppard's book "Whitetails". According to his data it doesn't matter, 90-99% of feeding (depending on conditions) is going to be done at night regardless if its a corn pile or green patch. I know many here have read the book, for those who haven't-get it!! Don't buy that number at all, lower the human pressure lower the percentage feeding at night. It's not the corn, it's not the wide open food plots, it's not the wide open hardwood timber that causes them to be shy in daytime it's the human pressure. IE pouring a bag of corn out every day or two and hunting it day after day, shooting alot in plots, over hunting stands, not hunting smart, riding 4 wheelers all over the property, game cameras in season, and so on.

A hunter in sight of corn is just a reassurance to them that says "Yep, I really am a lazy person and maybe I am a terrible hunter too" Hunting whitetails is like hunting other kind of whitetails, If you cant get one on your own you think its ok to brag about one you went out and bought or in this case SIT OVER CORN. Be honest to folks during your story, say well it all started when I went out to my cornpile and...bla bla...! Let people decide what kind of hunter you really are. Preach on brother!

Avengesevenfold, its not about being a lazy worker, its about NOT putting in your time and doing your homework and scouting. And then whinning about other folks bringing back the big boys while your not seeing anything but does coming to your cornpile. This is the time it would be advantageous for me to be willing to put pictures on here and let you decide on if I'm "doing my homework and scouting". But, since I understand the concept of not being willing to sacrifice the war in order to win an Internet battle.....I guess you are right. I'm a lazy hunter that knows nothing about that habitat and habits of the animal that I hunt. I put out corn due to my incompetence and inability to be able to hunt one "the right way".... If the law says it is legal...then you tell me
