Nice buck, but what's up with the quality of those pics? Looks very grainy compared to pics I've seen you post in the past.

If you have an idea of his bedding area, would you ever consider doing a soft push with maybe three hunters total? This is something I have never tried but have read about in multiple sources and heard talked about by some of the old timers.
I think it works best in woods not nearly as thick as those of the South, but what would the negatives be of trying it?

My guess is he has cutovers to hide in? If so yes he can unkillable almost. If he's bedding in bluffs etc you might could get him. Hanging a scent dripper during a rain and sitting all day as far as possible down wind .

your rut is about over now, isn't it. I was going to say that you should get a shot during the rut, but that's come and gone in your neck of the woods. Yup. In fact, not only is the rut just winding down, after looking at my observation data more closely, our "window" for highest-odds encounters with old bucks is long over. Although we have the rare older buck sighting at other times, the vast majority of hunter sightings of bucks 3 1/2+ occur during just a 9-day window during the cruising/seeking phase of the rut, just before peak breeding. About 90% of all 3 1/2+ year-old buck sightings that have ever occurred on the property have occurred from Nov. 4th through the 12th. Our peak breeding (when scrapes go dead) is usually Nov.12th through the 19th.

I think it works best in woods not nearly as thick as those of the South, but what would the negatives be of trying it? No, our sanctuaries are sacrosanct. We try never to violate them at any time of year. That's how they became and remain sanctuaries. And for smaller properties, sanctuaries are the key to drawing and holding older bucks. Unfortunately, this buck is just going to be one more on a long list of whoppers that have outwitted us over the years.

I agree with you about staying out of those sanctuaries at any time of the year,we dont even go in ours in the off season.
