Anyone else seeing a lull in Pickens co. We have great property and plenty of dee but the numbers of deer I'm seeing vs deer I've seen in years past is way Down. My club has put some pressure on them but not anymore than any other year . I have not been but once this year and not seen anything but the pure numbers is way down.

I've been seeing more this season than I have in the past 4 or 5 years.

If you've only been once, how can you tell if there is a lull or if it was just an off day?

Fur Mistaken text that should have read like this. Of all the times I've been this year I've only had 1 hunt that I didn't see a deer.

I have seen some young bucks by I'm used to seeing 5-10 deer on an evening hunt. This year it's been 1-3. Full moon and 70defrees don't help.

Hunt the timber. There was a bumper crop of acorns this year. They're not hitting the food plots very much except at night.

I hunted all weekend and didn't see the first deer. I am in Palmetto which is 8 miles north of Reform. What part are y'all hunting?

Not sure hunting "only once" provides enough hours to form a conclusion.
I had a buddy that wanted to hunt this particular field that was planted late... finally, the field had a green hue to it. He hunted it one afternoon and didn't see a deer... reluctantly, he hunted it the next afternoon and saw seven bucks and several does and shot a 128" 9 pt.
Nothing changed... not even the weather... or the wind direction.

Bucktrot as I stated in my 2nd post in this topic, I have hunted around 10 days. Of those 10 days only one of those hunts did I not see a single deer. I hunt outside Alliceville. All farmland and open. Definately dry there. Even our pig wallers are dry. I hung 2 stand in a bottom edging up to a 5yr pine thicket with trails going all into it. I'm fired up about hunting them but both are deep it will be a rough drag so only wall hangers will be taken back there.

BPS, gotta ya! Hmmm... man, you're in a top county for numbers and antler size. Are you taking a kid? When I take my young son, I don't see much. When I go by myself, immature bucks pee on my tree and does frolic in front of me!! ![smirk smirk](/forum/images/graemlins/default/smirk.gif) Go figure!!! Anyway, I hope things get better as the year moves along.

Buck trot my son killed his first buck opening weekend. I would have to agree with you about it being an awesome county as far as numbers (probably shouldn't have said that). I would also agree that when hunting by myself immature bucks chase me around like SOS. I'm def not discouraged I'm just used to it being much better. But on the bright side, we have had 6 kids kill there first deer so far this season.
