I bought some new Rocky's this past march and have wore them everytime I went to woods between then and two weeks ago. By far they were the most comfortable I have wore. They were supposed to be snake proof and waterproof. Well, the waterproof wore off pretty quick and not long after the rubber sole separated from the shoe. Just passing along my experience with those boots.
My question is has anyone actually had a snake strike them on their boots. I would give up some comfort and a lot of money to know that I could be bit on my boots and not have to worry about it.

I got hit by a cottonmouth on my Russell Bullhide snake boots after I stomped him!!!! But I don't think a 22 rifle would go thru those boots....
btw, I got them a month AFTER I got hit by a Timber Rattler in the left calf.......

Although it doesn't sound like it, were you wearing snake boots when the timber rattler hit you, and if so how'd they hold up?

no snake boots when hit. I was wearing Lacrosse Grange rubber boots, fangs went right thru about two inches from the top..it was a BIG snake, five feet.

Rockys did the same thing seperated from the sole after one year bought at Bass Pro. I am going to try the Muck Woody Armor. Has anyone tried them?

I guess the waterproofing wears off all of them pretty quick. Every pair that I have ever owned leaked after the first year. I've never had the sole come off or separate but I know of guys who did. You would figure for that kind of money, the quality would be better. But to your question, I'm pretty sure a cottonmouth hit mine several years back. I was in stealth mode and not looking down trying to get a shot at a turkey across a creek when I felt something hit my leg. I thought I had stepped on a limb but when I did look down, there he was. I got out of stealth mode pretty quickly and screamed like a banshee getting the hell outta there. I couldn't swear that he did hit my boot but I'm pretty sure he did.

Yes. That's the only ones that I like wearing. I put ALOT of miles on a pair of boats in a years time and the Rocky ones seem to break in better. If they didn't leak after 3-4 months wearing them, they would be perfect for me. I Snow Seal or Seal Skinz them every so often and that works pretty good.

My Chippewas have been the best so far. Wear like a glove and havent leaked in 5 years and they have a ton of miles on them. But.....they are heavy. Only downside. Which ones you have ?

Rockys did the same thing seperated from the sole after one year bought at Bass Pro. I am going to try the Muck Woody Armor. Has anyone tried them? I bought a pair of muck woody armor boots last year. The most comfortable boot I have ever worn. The only complaint is they are hot during early bow season , but not hot enough I quit wearing them. I did buy a pair of irish setter snake boots during the sikes and khon 20% off sale in feb. I wore them during turkey season , while not as comfortable as the mucks they are not as hot.
