Took my kids today out on their first arrowhead hunt. Found a bunch of flakes and two broken blades. Any help identifying would be appreciated. I know it may be hard since they're broken. We found them a few miles outside of New Hope, AL in Madison County on private property with permission to keep what we found.

(Quarter was only used for size reference, it was not found today)

You got a couple of Gary points as they are sometimes called. Those are common knives, not spear points. They have a large date range of 7500 to 500 years old. Yours are most likely in the 3500-1000 year range. The material is called Ft. Payne Chert, which is the most common for that area of the state. Probably got a good site there. If you found pottery it would make dating the site much easier.

Thanks Skinny. I've searched that area alot as a kid with my grandfather and we have found many points. Most of the time thay were broken but a few whole points. Very rarely did we find pottery but there was a few. I'll have to get with my brother he has my grandfathers collection, which is where the pottery is.

The area is pretty cool it's a waterfall that comes off the mountain and there is an old hog wire fence that crosses the creek and builds up with material, that we usually sift, but today we just walked the creek and flipped over rocks.
