I have an electrical contractor on the HE battery plant close to Savannah before commissioning services starting next week. The facility had a worker killed last Friday, getting run over or pinched between a fork lift and structure. The last job was in Cartersville GA, same company where they 100% flag man assigned to each operating lift or equipment. The difference is Ga was joint venture with S-K and the venture on this one is with LG. I visited the site yesterday to do a preinstallation inspection and it was still chaotic even after the accident on last Friday. I told the customer that I want all the fitters and electricians done before we startup and test the units. They have 5 2500hp compressors, so it's not a small deal with plenty of safety measures to be mindful of. I'm doubtful they will have it all cleared out by next Tuesday. Usually red barricade tape means do not enter an area without permission, I'm more than concerned.
Looking up the jobsite record (Savannah) it's their 2nd fatality in less than two years with 44 emergency services called out to the site.
According to BCSO’s Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) Events records, 44 Emergency Medical Services calls have been made to the site since Sep. 23, 2023.

Hopefully you document all your concerns/recommendations and submit to appropriate managers/owners of all parties involved to cya.

That’s wild they’ve had that many medical calls in that time frame. I was in Cartersville last week, took a load of cows there. That plant in Cartersville is in between Rome and Cartersville on 411. It is humongus. The plant in Savannah is probably twice as big, traffic nightmare

I bet the sub on sub on sub contracting ladder is so high that nobody except the guys on the ground are penalized.

That's crazy Oakachoy. How many people do they employ? It's a big crew, when finished it is supposed to hire 8500 in direct hires when finished. I have no idea how many contractors, based on trying to get out of there yesterday at quitting time it is several thousand. It's the most intense job I've seen.

I have a 5mil umbrella and all they request is vehicle insurance to bring our trucks in. No COI required. OSHA shut down the job Friday thru Monday. Business as usual on Monday afternoon. I'm planning on red taping the whole area and documenting any intrusion. I don't know any of the contractors, like the last one it is a heavily Hispanic presence. My electrical sub is licensed and insured, glad they finished yesterday.
