I have installed a tuner on my rifle and it came with a muzzle brake- It is much more accurate but it is LOUD. I am looking for some hearing protection to wear while hunting. Walkers game has some ear plug types- Just looking to see if there are any real work suggestions/ feedback. Ear muffs are fine for the range but I want to be able to hear while I hunt and dont see me remembering to put on muffs when i finally see a big one

Been using these ISOtunes Sports from shooting clays to turkey hunting for the last 3 years. Good gun shot noise reduction, amplifies outdoor sounds, good battery life and bluetooth connection to your phone. I have no problem wearing these for hours. Only complaint is that you can get some wind noise when it's blowing. They know it's an issue and may have improved with newer models, but I don't know for sure.

AXIL is another brand to check out.

I've been using Peltor Electronic Earmuffs for over 30 years. They amplify sound and cut off at a loud noise like a gun shot. There may be something better, but these work ok and are only $65. I have worn out 3 of them over the years and need to pick up a new one. I wear them all the time when hunting with a handgun or my loud ML. I don't want to take any chance of firing either of those without protection.

When hunting with my rifle, I keep them in my vest and pull them out only if convenient. One shot with a .308 doesn't make my ears ring, but I will put them on before shooting if I have plenty of time.

I just bought these and for the price you can’t beat them they double as earbuds and allow ambient sounds through but muffle loud noises

I bought the Axil GS Extreme 2.0 several months ago. I haven't had the opportunity to use them in a hunting situation yet, but I have shot my 357 with hot hand loads with good results. I also use them while mowing with my 15 year old riding mower that has become a little loud. The blue tooth works well with my iPhone and the battery life is good. Hearing conversation and amplification is also good.

X2 on the Axil GS Extreme shot skeet a few times with them and they do perfectly. I really wish I would have prioritized my ears a long time before this. My left ear is wrecked from killing a buck with a 7 prc with a muzzle break and no hearing protection.

There are several good options but the issue I have with all of them is when wearing a face mask or anything over your ears, which is most any time I’m hunting.

Electronic hearing pro that amplifies sound will drive you crazy b/c every time you turn your head it rubs against the microphone on the ear pro. It would be ok sitting in a shooting house only watching a single direction, but I don’t care for that style of hunting.

You can’t insert plugs in a hurry if your ears are covered, so that’s not a good option either.

Muffs are too bulky to keep up with and don’t go on over a hat very well AND interfere with my cheek weld on the stock which throws shots off.

Suppressed is prob the best solution. I’ll know after this season.

You're only as good as your worst shot-

I used the Axil GS Extreme 2.0 earbuds last year for hunting. They worked well under my face mask and cold weather gear. I like being able to adjust the volume and hear what's going around me. They don't rub or get feedback like earmuffs will. I have a enough hearing loss that I don't want to risk any more. I also use them for shooting matches and they work very well for all day use.

thanks for the info. I had not considered the problem with face coverings while hunting impacting the ear plug/ muff issue- I may need to try a couple of options-
