Y’all hurting my feelings. I finally bit the bullet and bought my son-in-law’s truck yesterday. It is a 2014 Chevy z71 Ltz package with the 5.3 motor. The good part is he has a company car and it only had 78000 miles on it. What do I need to watch out for? I had a 2015 and my transmission went out at 87,000 My dad had a 2014 and his transmission went out at 75,000 My 2012 GMC Sierra transmission went out at 137,000. Brand new one blew up at 139,000. Thankfully it had manufacturer warranty

I couldn't be happier with my 2019 RAM 1500. I know that's not the popular truck with most on this forum. But it's the best truck I've ever owned. The thought of letting it go bothers me. With my work I know sooner or later it's gotta go and something newer in it's place. But I do love my truck.

I'd buy a 2020 or older Tundra Make that a 2021. That was the last year of the V8 and older body style before going to the twin turbo v-6. I agree with everyone on the Tundra. I had a 16 that I sold to my son a little over a year ago, and I replaced it with a 21. Plenty of power and tow capacity. Reliable and dang near bullet proof. Gas mileage sucks, but I think that is probably why they are more reliable. Doesn't have all the electronics and BS that messes up or causes other things to mess up by trying to save 3 mpg.

2013-2017 GMC and Chevy trucks are well-known for their transmission problems.

How much does it cost to fix that Get a jasper, not an OEM. jasper has a 100k warranty on it which is way better than OEM replacement. Bout $4500 on the jasper, probably more on the OEM

All my friends give me crap yet compliment how good it rides and the interior is so nice 🤦♂️. I do like the Toyota dependability but nothing else so for now I will just go with what works for me.

Bout $4500 on the jasper, probably more on the OEM Y'all have made me paranoid over the years about my 2017 Chevy, though I've never had any trouble with it. I'm still under 90,000 miles so I don't put the number of miles on it that many do. While some mention reliability as the most important to them, I would have to say comfort was more important to me. The powered leather seat in my truck is the most comfortable place that I have to sit. With my health issues, I couldn't drive a Toyota. So my plan is to drive this one until it dies, and put a Jasper transmission in it when it does. Considering that this truck gets 22-24 mpg on the road, and 16 pulling the boat, I will actually be better off financially than running the Toyota that gets far less. But even if it doesn't, I'd rather try to keep my back from hurting any worse than it already does.

Has the transmission ever been serviced? 3. How often does the oil get changed?

Thanks guys, went with a 2018 Ford 5.0. The Toyota are hard to find. Got this one with 73,0000 miles for $25,000. Has the towing package.
