Orange Lake, between Ocala and Gainesville. My best came from there. It weighed 13 5.

The hot ticket down here now is " Headwaters " in Fellesmere FL.

https://www.stickmarshfishingguide.com/lakes/headwaters-lake/

They prepped this place with dozers and planted Cypress trees etc. before flooding it.. Then they stocked it and let it simmer for several years.
The only problem with a big pre planned pilgrimage there is it's easy to get blown off. Farm 13 and the Stick Marsh are the same way. There are
some lakes inland to retreat to if needed. I want to go sometime. There's really nothing there other than a ramp and parking.

If you ever get to fish any of these central Florida lakes, the Bird life is truly incredible. You will enjoy that part also.

Here's a link I found with recent catch info. Fellesmere "won" on the numbers, but Orange Lake produced the biggest fish. I caught my 13 5 at Orange around 40 years ago, so I would say the lake has withstood the test of time. https://myfwc.com/news/all-news/battle-lakes-1123/

Growing up watching Roland Martin and Jimmy Houston catch monster bass on Okeechobee, it was always a place I wanted to fish. I finally got to do it when I was on my preceptor down there. Of course, when I was there, the water was about 4 feet low, and we got skunked. Coundn't get the boat anywhere we wanted to go without running aground. Didn't have a single bite on shiners. I missed about a 2 pounder on a trick worm, only bite I had. Would love to go back.

I fish Orange lake quite often. It’s amazing how many fish that lake can hold. They still catch monster bass out of there but are more know for their bream fishing now. I used to fish the stick marsh quite a bit. I heard it has made a comeback.

A trip to Orange Lake is pretty hard to beat if you have a tank of big wild shiners. Don't be shy to put on the big one.
I also got my personal biggest there (12) When you become good at shiner fishing, you can start visiting nearby Rodman Reservoir.
Harder to fish than Orange (imho) but with equal or better benefits. You need a serious live well and a big bait budget to do this.

Between Ivie and Fork, Ivie was my favorite. When I lived in Lubbock, Alan Henry was a hidden gem. I fished it a lot before the first boat ramp was even built. If you are after numbers, Bois D' Arc just opened up. Those bass have never seen a lure. It will be the next Lake Fork.

Rodman is good but you better know where you are going. Underwater stumps everywhere in certain areas.

I never got comfortable planing out the boat in Rodman. Even in the highly marked channel, there was usually LOTS of floating wood during the period I fished it.

Young20 for the win.
Headwaters has been beat to death since it opened to boaters. While it’s 10k acres, it fishes small due to all the vegetation. And it’s pounded daily by guides as well as rec guys.
Stick Marsh is a shell of its former self BUT, it went through a drawdown last summer so it could be good in the future. We will see.
Okeechobee is hit or miss depending on water levels and conditions.
Orange and Lochloosa are hidden gems. Small, not overly fished under most peoples radar.
If I had to pick a lake outside of Central Florida, I’d pick Ivie or Lake Fork.
