I’m up to 7 now. Last year I had 11 total. I really need to get another pole set up. My little colony hasn’t filled up the 8 gourds I have, but can you have too many? No problem with sparrows or starlings, so I’m going to try it for next year.
If you do the things you need to do when you need to do them then someday you can do the things you want to do when you want to do them.

They are coming in very slowly this year. I got my first ones on 2/8 which is earlier than average. Then no more for 2 weeks. I’m not sure how many I have now, but it’s way fewer than normal.
I have to ask, do you have predator guards? I see the question you asked, multiple times a year, every year and when I ask that person if they have predator guards the answer is usually no. A snake can climb a steel pole as fast as it wants to. Snakes and raccoons wipe out colonies every year. Hopefully yours are just late. But if you don’t have a predator guard, I couldn’t recommend them enough.
I use electric fence for mine. I’m helping someone install theirs tomorrow afternoon, will be glad to take pics and post them if you want to see how I do it.
