Any suggestions of a good water fowl taxidermist? My son is looking to get one stuffed. Thanks in advance!

Blake Wilson or Shane. Here in the shoals there’s another guy doing some really nice work.

Shane Smith or Stan Gross. Shane smith’s price and ETA has pretty much priced himself out of the market on anything other than truly a once in a lifetime mount for me though. Like Eider, Harlequin, Eurasian Widgeon, etc. Stan Gross is who I use for 90% of my needs.

I would no longer recommend taking mounts to Shane after a few friends recent experiences.

Blake Wilson at Wings over Water taxidermy does all of mine. He does great work.

Fowl play in Brent will be closest to you. I think he trained under the above mentioned Shane from north Alabama. Not to mention his dad is Toby of Toby’s taxidermy who is one of the best in the area when it comes to deer, turkey, and fish. They mount all of Tommy Wilcox and Hank Jr’s trophies

So I guess I'll be the one to ask what specific bird is it your getting mounted?

It has been 12-15 years since I had a duck mounted. How much should I expect to pay a reputable taxidermist to mount a duck these days. I would guess $300 but what have some of y’all payed for one lately. I want to add a redhead and a bufflehead to my collection when I’m able to get one.

4-500 with current backlogs. It seems all waterfowl taxidermist have all the work they can stand. Most are close to 2 years out. Especially the good ones

He killed a wigeon, drake. He has talked to Blake Wilson. Blake is in the middle of moving, not taking any birds until he gets moved.
