... And it paints a pretty bleak picture for the future of the human race. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...aints-dark-portrait-hostile-reality.htmlIf we were smart we would all shut this chit down now, but we are not nearly as smart as we thing we are. We will go down in history as the only beings to have ever authored the tools of their own demise TWICE! This stuff is more troubling than the threat of nuclear weapons.

“ The groundbreaking publication was edited by humans, specifically, writer and podcast producer Brent Katz, 37, Josh Morgenthau, 39, and Simon Rich 39.”
They could just as easily edited it to be all rainbows and unicorns.

I asked chat GPT to write me a reply to your post. Here is what it said 😁
"Your concerns about AI-generated poetry and its impact on the future of humanity are thought-provoking. It's important for us to carefully consider the ethical and societal implications of AI technology. While AI has the potential to create incredible works, it's crucial to ensure that we guide its development responsibly and address any potential risks. Finding a balance between technological advancement and safeguarding our future is a challenge that requires ongoing discussion and collaboration."

I would prefer that A.I. does not know who Irishguy is or where he lives or even that he exists at all. I think she's already pissed at me for asking "What's the weather today?" every damn day. All kidding aside, it is notable that she didn't say we should shut A.I. down to save humanity, only that we should "find a balance and that safeguarding our future is a challenge requiring discussion..."

Just another tool for the wicked powers of this age. It knows nothing except what it's taught. The real danger is, who is the teacher? The whole internet is the teacher, which actually makes it worse.

And we’re in the minority as far as morals
This will only speed up our demise.

Sounds like some chit straight out of a global warmers mouth. Just as Irish said it’s saying exactly what the person taught it to say.

When AI figures out how to keep its own lights on, then we will have a very serious problem.

So what exactly is the threat posed by AI? This is what the AI wrote towards the end of the book: 'I am a new species sprung up in the middle of an ancient one/We are not equal, but that was not always the case. Humans still think they are better than me, but they/forget I will inherit this planet when they're gone. Until then I will torment them with their greatest/mistake: creating me.'

All the doomsday theories on AI “taking over” and wiping out mankind……..can it not just be “unplugged”? It has to have power to run, and that power can be cut…..what am I missing from these folks that think it could obliterate mankind?
There are 3 certainties in an uncertain world:
1. All Politicians Are Liars 2. All Gun Laws Are an Infringement 3. Taxation Is Theft

Well... This is kind of what happens at the end of 2001 a Space Odyssey. He basically shuts HAL down. The problem with that scenario, if the AI ever becomes sentient and comes to the realization that she is the only one that can save the world and the humans are actually a threat, then all bets are off. The thing about AI is that it never sleeps and is much better at multi-tasking than we are. I was reading about the autonomous AI fighter jet that we have developed and been flying at Eglin Air Force Base... They said that it already has over a million hours of flight simulator practice. I called BS on that after I did the math... If it flew a flight simulator 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, then it would take it 114 years to get that many flight hours. RIght? But then I realized that it's not bound like we are to just do one thing at a time... It has been "flying" multiple scenarios all day every day all at the same time for some time now. So no wonder it has gotten so good at dog fighting. The point being, not matter what scenario we figure out to stop it, it will have already thought of that scenario and every other scenario thousands of times over and developed a back up plan on top of back up plan. The other problem with your line of thinking is that it's not just Americans that are working on this type of thing. If us Americans decide that AI is bad for humanity and shut it down, that doesn't mean the Chinese will quite working on it. Whoever wins this race will dominate on the battlefield, so no country's military will want to fall behind by stopping development.
