Im in my last semester of graduate school at Clemson finishing my masters in wildlife and fisheries biology. I work full time, am 43 with a family and its the only option I could do. I’ve had a good experience.

They are pretty common today and they don’t have the stigma they once held. Traditional classes are always a reasonable option. For instance-Many who have been on their current career path and now have a family, mortgage etc can’t always pursue traditional classes. This is my case . The nearest traditional institution that offers the course of study that I’m wanting to add to my resume is 2 hrs away. Working full time, preparing to build a new house and an 8 year old at home will not allow me to make that commute. It’s not a requirement for my job but the accreditation that I want requires it. The online route is a much better fit.

With the ROI on degrees being put out by the universities I would think an employer would value the online as equal if not better as in the person is serious about getting the degree

All I know is I looked at getting a Masters in Accounting online from AU a few years ago, and they wanted $35K. I was like, really????

Lets face it an online degree should cost 1/4 the money. How long before the students catch on that they are getting ripped off.

Lots, if not all, major universities offer online degree programs now.
