Go out in the yard and dig up a jar to pay it.

I’ve never paid them, 1 in Montgomery and 1 going through a sunpass where the vehicle in front of me paid my toll or at least that’s what the toll booth attendant told me. I thought all cops were against them because they took away jobs? It would be fun to run from a robot cop if there’s ever such a thing

Unless said ticket was delivered via certified mail with signature required, you haven’t received anything and this was merely a hypothetical question. Thousands of mailed items are lost daily.

Red light camera? If so, I'll call you next week. Mike

Principle I guess. Drivers deserve the tickets, not a co-owner of a car who wasn't driving. Ticket was issued to me. I wasn't driving. So why should I pay it? I especially have a problem if it gets reported on my driving record and impacts my insurance...as if I was the one running a red light.

Seems to be a technicality and cause for dismissal.

After receiving a court date I paid mine. Drove through midfield once in the last 10 years and camera got me. I rather pay than have to go back to midfield much less court. I know it’s a racket but Im too busy to be messin with the idiots

The attitude that makes it a profitable venture

Mine was a speeding ticket but it’s operated by the same company

I’ve spent a few grand on the deal and plan to continue until I can prove it’s not certified maintained and reliable and if I’m successful I’ll head a class action suit against the company and any city using the equipment

I received one of these in Fairfield several years ago. $120 and send payment to a company in Arizona. I researched what I could and found that only a very small number of these type of traffic cameras were legal in Alabama. I decided it was a money grabbing operation for the city and that it wouldn’t hold up in court because there was no real court. I never paid it and after 3-4 invoices reminding me to pay it, they simply quit sending them and I have not heard anything about it ever since. The laws may have changed since then but that’s how I handled it then.

That is what it is going to take to fix the problem. If I can help you, let me know.

If you don't understand the issue, research the differences in Criminal law vs Civil law. Also know that in Alabama, by law, in order to be cited for a violation the offense must be committed in an officer's presence. The citation is then written to the person that committed the offence. That is not the case with Civil violations. They can be issued to a vehicle or building, but in reality we all know the citation goes to the owner. Alabama law forbids municipalities from enforcing Civil law without being specifically allowed to by the State Legislature. By allowing this the legislature is allowing an end run around our Criminal procedures. This is not my main concern with the camera tickets however. As I stated already the lion's share of the profits go to a private company. I have serious ethical concerns over profiting from enforcing the law.

This is absolutely not true in Florida. If you don’t pay it as a civil citation (not on driving record), contest it, or provide an affidavit of who was driving YOUR car, then you will be issued a moving violation citation that goes on your driving record and accrues points.

No first hand knowledge but I also understand that FL is serious about blowing through toll roads without paying based on the tag and photo of the driver. Of course, that is a different state with different laws.

My truck is registered to a company. Who gets the ticket in that case? What if the people who sold the truck originally misspelled the company name, by several letters and that company doesn’t exist and no one corrected the title / tag?
Next, what if the tag is a dealer tag who gets the ticket the car dealer? If so that would be awkward.

My son got one in one of those south Alabama towns for 39 in a 35 back the summer after he graduated high school. Didn’t pay it and have never heard another word.

The company gets the ticket as long as they have an address to send it to. I doubt the misspelling will make a difference.

Since dealer tags are not supposed to be used for anything except driving in dealership related business (yes I know that is one of the most abused and overlooked privileges out there), they should be responsible for the ticket just like the rest of us.
