I bought a piece of property and it came with a 2wd 5105 jd tractor. Owner says its a late 90's. It has 980 hrs. Any ideas on what it worth? Looks to be in pretty good shape. It cranked right up. thanks

I am guessing between 11,000 and 12,000 if it does not have a loader.

I have a later model 5205 4X4 with loader . It's the 5105s big brother. Both are good , pre computer/def utility tractors that are in demand now.

Before this last round of inflation that was an $8-9k tractor. I would be interested at that price range. As stated above if it has a loader you can add $4-5k. If it’s super clean and tires aren’t dry rotted (if original they’re 20 years old by how) you might be able to get $12-13k. That’s about what the tractor sold for new. I’ve owned two of them over the years. They had a different transmission than the 5000 series they were based on. They came out as a entry level option and didn’t come with draft control, although you could add it. They also didn’t come standard with any hydraulic remotes, but that was a field installed option as well. Good luck with sale. That’s a better tractor than the 5D series sold now.

Go to Tractorhouse and plug the make and model in. Average the asking price of 4 or 5 equivalent tractors and knock 20% off. Simple formula that will put you pretty close to a true value.
