Planted it two years ago. It tends to dry up fairly fast in the winter and leaves just the stalks. That said, it is named hemp for a reason as it is a rope. Cutting and disking it was no fun. YMMV, but I will not plant it again.

I have no problem mowing sunn hemp with my flail mower. I wouldn't want to use a regular rotary cutter, because the blade doesn't spin fast enough. See my pic below. The left side is where I already cut it with my flail mower. It turns it into mulch basically.

I’ve been looking to do the same thing on a 3/4 acre field, glad I came across this thread. How many lbs of fertilizer did you use and what kind. Did you row the corn, or broadcast it. I was thinking of screening along the edges and broadcasting the teosinte in the middle

Anyone know where to get Egyptian wheat seed in bham? The power company came through and cut the right aways with a mulcher...never seen that done before. I need to plant something asap and would like to get it in the ground over the 4th.
