Wonder if anyone has attempted to use sun hemp for the same purpose as the wheat. Seems like that could be dual purpose, and from what I know about hemp more hardy. Planted it two years ago. It tends to dry up fairly fast in the winter and leaves just the stalks. That said, it is named hemp for a reason as it is a rope. Cutting and disking it was no fun. YMMV, but I will not plant it again.

YMMV, but I will not plant it again. I have no problem mowing sunn hemp with my flail mower. I wouldn't want to use a regular rotary cutter, because the blade doesn't spin fast enough. I’ve been looking to do the same thing on a 3/4 acre field, glad I came across this thread. How many lbs of fertilizer did you use and what kind. Did you row the corn, or broadcast it. I was thinking of screening along the edges and broadcasting the teosinte in the middle
