I know there’s a bunch old guys on here! In your guy’s experience with hearing loss, is there one hearing aid better than the other or route to go to get hearing aids?

I have pretty bad tinnitus in one ear and my wife has complained that my hearing has gotten much worse. Wanted to explore my options but wanted an informed opinion.

I know it helped me getting hearing aids.
I was tired of guessing what people were saying and half the time getting it wrong.
For some of my friends with tinnitus, the hearing aids actually stopped it.
For others, it did not help the tinnitus.

I can't answer if one hearing aid is better than the other, as I've only used one kind.
It was expensive, and there may have been a cheaper route for the same result, but I went with "who" I knew.
I'd do it again due to the results.

God Bless,
David B.

I’m in the same boat. 40 with tinnitus and I truly have a hard time hearing. Especially if I’m not facing you.

The ones i got have settings for diff settings. Regular, outside, meeting and “white noise”. Trains the brain to ignore the tinnitus.

The harder I practice, the luckier I get.

The best thing is to go see an audiologist and let them test your hearing
After testing they can recommend what would be best for you

Of course that’s the route I’m going to take but I don’t want to walk out with an upsale on $8k hearing aids when I can do just as well with $2k hearing aids. I’m just trying to get a little edumication.

If you served in the Military, might want to check out Va.

Costco is a good choice; unless one ear is very bad and you need the "crossover" models. They don't carry them

I know my hearing aids they, the audiologist, can turn on some type of white noise that may cancel out the tinnitus. I have also been told that there are different frequencies that can be used to help cancel tinnitus out. If that is true I don’t know just something some else with hearings told me. I was able to get my hearing aides through the VA and they replace them about every 5 years.

Go to an audiologist and they will help you get the answers. Mine even let me use a pair for a week to see if I thought they were worth the money. If it is all about stopping tinnitus you'll be disappointed. They don't do much with that.

As a hearing aid wearer my recommendation is ship around. I was shocked at the difference audiologists charge for the exact same model. I wear the Sigina and happy with them. I would prefer in the ear models due to my life style but for my case both audiologists recommend the signia over the ear.

What every you decide. Get a name brand, and at least a one year warranty. Consider bluetooth connectivity very hard. I regret not paying for that option. Make sure your smartphone is compatible. Our work phones are Samsung and at the time Sigina didnt connect to Samsung phone without an external device.

I have been wearing them for around 7 years and overall they are great. Only a couple of complaints.
When I put my glasses on, they make a very loud noise that is aggravating. Also, there are some sounds that will absolutely make them scream in your ears. Those are usually high pitched sounds that cause that.

I've been wearing them for 3 yrs. I have bad tinnitus - the hearing aids don't help with that. My hearing continues to decline - I think the tinnitus is getting louder and is the biggest detriment to my hearing. All kidding aside, I'm almost completely deaf to the frequency of my wife's voice - Sometimes I can't hear her in a quiet room with no distractions due to the tinnitus.
They're no miracle cure but the hearing aids help.
