Biden is a hero and saved our country from certain doom, again.

I'm sure he will do it one more time prior to November.

It wasn’t about pay they said but got an average of $35000 pay raise this year

Did they get their time off, the reason they gave for striking
The RR does own their butt from what I’ve been told, just curious if they’re time off has been allowed

The RR union is solidly in Biden's corner.

Don't let anyone tell you any different.

Well it worked I guess

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...-rail-workers-lead-huge-settlements.html

'It is going to embolden unions to ask for more': Expert warns Biden's deal to give rail workers a 24% pay rise will lead to more huge settlements - as number of US workers on strike triples to 78,000

It was reported 2 days ago they also got a 11K one time bonus too. It’s not in the latest link
Average by engineer pay is reportedly 100K so that’s why I said 35k this year

I just want them to stop blocking crossings, it’s seems they take pride in that.

They also do not pay into SS but they also cannot draw from it I’m told. They get treated differently than other workers in the country

Not saying that’s good or bad, just different. Like I said the RR owns them I’m told

Worked out just as all planned looks like with Biden the savior. Right before mid terms. Think I read postal workers are next. I’m sure they will include extra money for drop boxes again. And no republicans saying a word. They are as deep in the chit as the democrats

They've been blocking roads in Madison as long as I've lived here. The frequency at which they do it during rush hour makes me think it's intentional.

Same here in the shoals. The worst time to try and get across is at lunch and then again 3-5:30pm. Might get caught by 3 different trains. Since they run 24-7 it seems a logistics cause.

There was a 5,000 dollar one time bonus, just for working nonstop through Covid,… the rest will be retroactive backpay. The peb board set forth their recommendations for a compromise about a month ago, and it was a pretty fair middle ground between where the company and unions were. Most of the unions that represent the railroad had tentative contracts during that term, but the conductor and engineer unions held out for some unpaid sick time so that they could miss work for doctor’s appt s, etc… without fear of reprisals from whatever company they worked for. Biden has zero to do with it really, and the reason the backpay amounts will be high is that the railroad employees have been working without a contract for a few years. The reason your crossings stay blocked, is that the railroad cut employees, and started running significantly longer trains with fewer crews, and without the infrastructure in place to do it. It has however been extremely lucrative for the major railroads, who have posted record profits recently. Just fyi, the railroad can’t really strike, not meaningfully, because of the railway labor act, basically to much is at stake for rail service to be disrupted. So most of all this is just a big dog and pony show.

It doesn’t help that engineers laugh about blocking crossings on places like FB. They may not have control as you say but it comes off as petty and crass.

It was first reported as an 11K bonus from Biden on daily mail

A lot people work without contracts but I get it since railway workers do not pay into social security but instead pay into thei RR own retirement/social security system.

I get it, I have friends and family working and retired from the railway system
I also have friends and family that bowed out after going thru most of the engineer training, they realized it’s wasn’t for them because of the requirements for work.

I don’t care other than the blocking of crossings. That gets old watching 2-3 trains go by as you sit there stuck in traffic.

In Madison, they come to a complete stop while blocking the road. One can be sitting there for hours. If they went 1 foot West of Wall Triana, they would have miles of no crossings. Instead they stop blocking Wall Triana and Shelton Rd, both of which are main North/South routes in Madison.
