Is there a gunsmith around Montgomery that can bore out a choke or install screw chokes in a remington 1100. It has a full choke and I want to be able to shoot steel out of it.

If it’s an older 1100. I was wanting the same thing. Good folks on here talked me out of it and recommended I buy a barrel with interchangeable chokes. Glad I did If that’s not the case I’ll leave it to some of the others that are more educated on the subject.
Good luck.

Maybe easier to buy a barrel. I cut a 26 inch down ended up not enough sidewall two get threads cut for chokes. But your aarrel may have more meat in the sidewalls. Ammo dump in clanton can do the work if your barrel will take the threads.

All of the fixed choke barrles I've seen don't have enough meat to install Rem Chokes.
It will probably need to be reamed for Tru Choke pattern chokes but its possible to do.

There used to be a good one in Chelsea. I used him for a cerakote job a while back but can't remember his name. He worked out of his house and someone referred me to him. He did a jam up job on a 7-08 I have.

This or Jim McCullough. Two of the best and by coincidence live just a few miles apart from each other.

I wouldn’t run straight tungsten. Bismuth would be your best bet. They used to make a tungsten/polymer shell to was supposed to work in old barrels also, but I don’t know if it is still around.
