I found my little spot on the WMA Friday, eagerly antcipated Sunday with the cool weather. I get there before sunrise, I even noticed it wasn't very crowded. Find a perfect spot to nail anything upwind than comes down the ridge. And then, about an hour after sunrise two young yahoos without a thread of hunter orange show up about 60 yards away "dove hunting" but they really looked like they were just enjoying life and blasting at trees... I couldn't believe it. After reading the WMA rules again which prohibted anything but deer hunting, I decided it I can't hunt deer, might as well hunt poachers. So I kept my binonculars on them, contacted the game warden and he got em and ticketed them. Two bucks were taken down the road that I know of Sunday morning. Oh well... that's life I guess.

I am uncomfortable walking around WMAs even with orange on. X2…I look like a Christmas tree walking around in public 😂 Man I grew up less than 2 miles from the army Corp land on West Point lake. I used to walk into my stand staring up in the trees looking for hunters. I actually walked up on a guy at Veasy Ceeek one morning in a tree with a Remington bushmaster and he didn’t have on a stitch of orange. Veasy creek was Archery Only!!

Had an older fellow that hunted with us many years ago. He wore orange coveralls and hat. All he did was ease around. Could see him hundreds of yards out. Looked kinda like a ghost. Passed away last year at 96. RIP Harvy

I feel like the Karen of the woods. I could have ignored it if they would have just passed through, but they were determined to go through a case of shells it seemed. May have saved them and taught them a valuable lesson

A few weekends ago I was hunting Choccolocco. About 1030 I heard laughing and talking, loud music and dogs barking. I was on side of a ridge not far from the main dirt road. The racket kept up for a good 15-20 minutes. They were near my truck and I decided to gather my things and head out. When i got within sight of the road, I thought i was seeing things. I guess I was. I caught the tail end of a wagon train. Horses and covered wagons. And dogs and music and people making all kinds of noise. I wasn't sure if anyone would believe me, so I reached for my phone to get video. I had left my phone where i was hunting and had to walk back and get it. They were gone when I got back. Choccolocco has 2 big zones. Zone B was hunting. They couldn't ride in Zone A. They had to ride in Zone B. I quietly wondered if they had to pay extra to do their thing in the WMA like hunters have to.

I'm fairly sure I didn't. Though it might've helped my mood. I like horses. But not while I'm deer hunting

I think there are a lot of horse trails and even a horse camp on Choccolocco. I used to turkey hunt it some with a buddy. You think the horse train was weird. He told about coming across some “rainbow people.” I think they was NEKKID in a creek when he passed em. Another day, they had a VW stuck in a creek crossing. My buddy was not a fan of the “rainbow people.”

Yes, lots and LOTS of horse trails and the big horse camp in zone A. Near the check station and Coleman Lake. Between the 2 zones, I counted a total of 20 days of gun hunting. Is 345 days not enough for horses and covered wagons and hikers and bike riders and motorcycle riders? And since they only hunt one zone at a time, they could be there 365 days a year. Just make the current hunt zone off limits for non hunting recreation. We pay extra to hunt. As far as i know, they pay nothing extra. I've not heard of the rainbow people up there in a few years. Mostly in the summer. We came up on a a broken down car on the road down to Sweetwater Lake once. They just pushed it to the side, spray painted stuff on it and left it there. Kinda like antifa on a break i guess. They take over
