goes to me... Yesterday while going to the store to get some meds my son (8 years old) and I were driving down the drive and as usual my dog of 12 years runs the length of the road beside the truck on the passenger when we got to the end of the drive we felt a "BUMP" my son immediately looks at me and ask was that "Zeus" he then looks out the back window and sees his dog laying in the drive dead. He starts screaming "my only pet is dead, he was my only pet and now he is gone". My heart sank with sadness and anger as i can not figure out why when he was chasing us he decided to turn left and go under the truck instead of right and go into the field like he has for so many years of chasing every car that came up and down the driveway. To make it worse as i was getting dressed for us to leave my so says "dad im going out side to love on my dog" and this was a total of 3 mins before he died. So yea i felt like and still feel like shucks about this. here are the two of them back in 2019. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.ibb.co/4FZTgCt/IMG-20180705-171459.jpg) any of yall got a idea on how to make a marker for the grave. any ideas will be appreciated

So sorry to hear that. We have a pet cemetery on our farm. I take a router and crave their name on a cross where I bury them. God Bless.

Matt, as we were headed to town he looked at all teary eyed and said "dad its not your fault, he ran under the truck" to be only 8 he has a very good grasp on life and death as im a firefighter and he is always hearing calls go out and listing to reports and such

Will help her in this world today im hoping both mine will take my cold nature and learn from it.. hell for the daughter to be 14 and son 8 they have seen more death and destruction then some grown men. its not something i make them see, but its something they have asked me to see and teach them about.. i have sown them countless pictures of crash scenes and such and they leave the conversation with the mindset that anyone can die at any given time no matter how careful/responsible you or others are

As a human who unfortunately has to deal with this a good bit, these things happen. I hate it, hell, we all hate it. We look at our pets as human members of our family, and with that comes great blessing while we have them and incredible sadness when they leave us. Being in this profession has taught me that no matter the precautions we take, absolutely unimaginable things happen, often when we least expect it. My heart goes out to your son, and all your family, for a friend that was well loved.
