I need a gate made for a house down in Foley. Anybody recommend someone that could do a 17ft aluminum gate in that area?

UPS has my code. It's been given to Fed Ex, but they never put it into the computer. I watch them write it down, then they change drivers, so they are unpredictable. I'm going to install a box like Fred.

All you have to do is punch in 911 on most gates and they will open

A ring doorbell camera at the gate and they can ring it.
The gate can be remotely opened from your cellphone on most if im not mistaken.

Only if the owner programs it that way.

We have had a Mighty Mule for a little over 4 years. We have had a couple of problems but nothing to major.

Does anyone have the smart one? I would like to hear how the phone part is working for you.

I am about to add driveway gates, I do have a fence around the yard as well. I may or may not have enough concertina wire for 3 wraps and a plan for a shocking suprise also if needed... laugh

Almost the same setup for me. Our gate is automatic. It stays closed unless we're having a get together. Outside of 5 people with the code, you call me to get in. Best thing I've ever done!

Same here with automatic gates, battery powered with a solar panel charger, wood fences. We have a box for packages but about half the time they leave them on the ground.
I think it’s been a great investment and piece of mind. We like the privacy, if you’re not invited gun you might better call!

Crazy stuff happens in rural areas. Years ago I lived on 3 acres and worked at night. Hear something out back, so I get up. An older guy and a kid dumped an old washer and dryer off in my driveway not 50 feet from the back door. Seen them get in and drive off. Gate went up!

a gate will keep the riffraff out. When we bought our place in Bibb Co the local store owner told me not to leave the empty house unattended because of the local meth heads stealing copper and anything else not welded down. He pointed out a couple three fellas in a small truck in the parking lot and said those guys live near you and will steal you blind. Next day wife and I are at the house cleaning prior to moving stuff in and than same truck drives up the drive. They saw me and started to back away, but I yelled and waved em up. I asked if I could help them...driver said they were looking for a certain road....I said you mean the one YOU live on?? Eyes get big...I said that posted sign was for you. He replied"so you are going to be a bad man?" I said no, I wasn't no bad man....I turned and told my wife to get my shotgun...she stepped into the house. I told the driver I knew who he was and when my wife returned with my gun I was going to kill all three of ya'll. Calmly, while looking him in the eye. He slammed the truck in reverse and sped backwards out of my driveway. Never had a minutes trouble since then...and the gate stays locked.

Having a gate allows me to ignore all the vehicle noises I hear in bed. Worth the trouble.

I have wanted to run an electrical line from house to gate, I am guessing 150 yards. What gauge wire did you run? Did you install a subpanel close to your gate?

10/3 wire, outdoor rated , no sub panel. Runs off sub panel in shop, prolly250+ yards.

How would EMS get to you if they need to? I have a gate and I was wondering that for myself. Some people said the police siren can open most gated communities, but what about residential gates?

I gave a key to the local Fire Station for them and EMS.

When you call 911, give them the code. When dispatched, they'll tell responders to px (call) dispatch. This way it isn't given over radio traffic. If you don't have a code keypad, you'll have to open it or they'll have to break in.

All of our apparatus carry not cutters. Ambulances are a different story.

If you have a keyed lock like we do at our shop, then you can get a lockbox to put outside the fence that LEO's and Fire Dept have keys to. It's a strong box. No math head is gonna bust it.

Yes. It won't be broken into. It's called a Knox box.
