We're building a new house that will have a sizeable sodded lawn. I've got it in my head that I want to push mow it, primarily to keep from tearing up the grass with a heavy riding mower, but also to achieve a prettier cut (with striping). I've noticed the Toro Timemaster (a 30" cut), that's what I'm leaning towards right now. Any of y'all have other suggestions?....it appears some of these bigger push mowers can get insanely expensive (I've seen them over $3,500). Any of y'all push mow a pretty big yard? Your thoughts?

I'd go with Exmark but that's just me if you are needing a 30".

The main thing is to change the direction of your stripes every cut. This keeps the tires from causing ruts

If you’re wanting to push mow I would go with a Honda HRX or HRC model. The cut quality on the commercial exmark and toro push mowers is not as good in my opinion. Honda by far has the best cut quality especially when mulching. It has dual blades and cuts it up very fine I have a HRC. It’s been a mighty fine one still runs great

What is sizeable? I cut about a little under 9.5 acres not including the pond and house.

Honda all the way. That’s what I have. Starts the first pull.
