We are fixing up my son a duck boat. He has a 14x36 boat and looking for a mud motor for sale. Thought I’d check here before attempting to buying a kit to build one. Looking to stay under $450
Thanks in advance

I don’t know how old your son is but please pound it in his head to be careful in that thing. Those kind of set ups don’t do too well in a boat that small. I use to duck hunt a lot and have seen some near misses that could’ve been really bad. If I could help you with a set up I would but I got out of duck hunting years ago and lost some contacts. Thanks man. He’s 18, and I plan on being there with him until I’m sure he’s safely comfortable with it. Really just looking for a 5-7hp rig.

I’d go outboard before I’d go mud motor, you can get jack plates to move the motor up if needed, but an outboard is far superior in speed and drive ability. Mud motors are loud and won’t get you any further back that you can legally get to. After saying all of that, I come across them from time to time and will let you know if I see anything. Free Bump
