Thinking about fishing Little Lagoon with my CC. Can you also pull kids on the tube? Is the fishing pretty good in there? I have caught a few reds and trout off the dock, but never fished with my boat.

Know nothing about cold weather fishing in there, but there are some monster trout in there. They grow long and skinny and like topwater and suspending baits in the warm months.

It isn't necessary to see a good tackle...you can hear it.

We fish it a bit in the summe, at night under the dock lights. Like Hawk says, big trout, but long and skinny.
What size CC? Winter time, when the water is clear, is the time to figure out where to run. When the tide is above a "0" tide level, we run pretty much anywhere in a 18 ft skiff.

Not necessarily any time soon, just in general. I can run in about a foot or even less.

It is really shallow in places. I used to fish there a lot when I was in college and I ran aground many times. The beer drinking had nothing to do with it.

Summer time, Dock lights, from dark until you’re tired of it. Go Straight across from the landing and fish East to start. For trout and reds use live shrimp under a rattle cork rig, use 12 lb flourocarbon 18” long and a small treble hook. Do not bother even going on an East or west wind. Cast net a bunch of livies at the pass and live chum them around the lights to fire them up if they’re biting slow. For flounder fish drop offs early in the morning with some current movement with tiny pinfish and a small split shot. Be careful until you learn the sandbars.

Google "BassTracker66" and see if there's any archived posts from the old Great Days Outdoors forum...that man could catch any fish that has ever been in Little Lagoon. He fished it year-round and I bet he never came home empty handed, unless he threw everything he caught back. If I remember correctly, one of the members here is his grandson, son-in-law, nephew, etc (forget how they are/were related).

ETA: Just checked the posts here and BassTracker66 is straycat's wife's uncle

Three of those trout without spots look like what we used to call sand trout. Is that what they are?

Yeah sand trout or white trout. I think some people just call them sea trout too.

I fished it with Jayhook once. Enjoyed it a bunch.

Jayhook is a fine fellow, gave me several pointers when I met him. Can only imagine one of his trips would be super informative and a good learning experience. 👍🏼

We fished it a month or so ago. Caught a bunch of LYs at the east end of it in my cast net and used them for bait at the mouth of the inlet going out to the gulf. Caught a bunch of spanish and a few really nice trout.
