I've been watching these Storks for several days and finally got a few postable pics. I don't know how rare they are but I've never seen one in Alabama during my lifetime. They are hanging out in a shallow farm pond a few miles out of Ashford.

When I lived in Cowarts they used the beaver pond behind the house they used quite a bit.

Probably one of this bunch. There's been about a dozen or so hanging out in this pond. From the replies to this post they're more of them out there than I realized I've just never seen any. A good sized bird and I can see where they could cause damage to the fish population in a pond. I can imagine a roosting sight could get pretty nasty as well.

I've seen them on my pond several times over the years and have seen huge flocks of them at Cooters Pond on the Alabama river. I think its when they are migrating
