I’ve rattled in a lot of bucks. Just be prepared for them to try and circle down wind of you. That’s been the case for almost all the big ones I’ve taken.

I had one years ago come to the sounds of me taking my steel Summit climber off a tree. It will work. I have never had much faith in rattling, but I do give it a shot this time of year when they are "piddling" looking for does.
I can't stand a thief.

I've rattled in a few over the years but never killed one while doing it. Best advice I can give is be prepared to shoot down wind & be prepared to shoot fast. They won't hang around long. Stalking & rattling is a fun way to hunt if you are bored with sitting & watching.

We get a lot of response to rattling where we hunt in Macon County. I've seen 6 different bucks rattled up on a cold morning over looking a clearcut. I've had more success in the mornings.

Stalking & rattling is a fun way to hunt if you are bored with sitting & watching. Same. They come in circling has been my experience. I rattled in a 140-inch 10-pt several years ago in a big CRP field. He came in behind me, spooked when I turned and I missed a running shot. I made mistake of telling my buddy about the episode. Now this fella is unorthodox but deadly. A couple days later, he slipped the CRP field, got the buck up and kilt it. I learned a lesson from all that and it wasn’t about rattling. It’s prime rattling season here in north Alabama until Jan 10-15 or so.
