Bucks are starting to seek-push and even chase does where Im at now. Ive always had good success grunting in conjunction with a doe estrous bleat during this time.
Has anyone here in Alabama had success rattling in Alabama? Is it too late where Im at too attempt to rattle?

Ain't gonna say I rattled them in but on 2 different hunts last year about this time I rattled a lil bit and shortly afterwards I saw a buck the first day, the second day I saw 2 bucks that I thought were bout to tie up in the field....so I'm kinda gonna think I did

I’ve rattled in a lot of bucks. Just be prepared for them to try and circle down wind of you. That’s been the case for almost all the big ones I’ve taken.

I had one years ago come to the sounds of me taking my steel Summit climber off a tree. It will work. I have never had much faith in rattling, but I do give it a shot this time of year when they are "piddling" looking for does.

I've rattled in a few and grunted/bleated in a few too. I always call when the time is right. I've heard a lot more deer vocalizations that I thought were gimmicks in the last few years from hunting thicker cover where the bucks hang out. Had one snort wheezing his head off at a young buck at the end of season last year that never would come into the open.

I've rattled in enough to give me confidence to do it here.

I have grunted up bucks a lot in the past, but my only success in rattling was in Oak Mountain when they had the draw bow hunts. That was a special place back then

I've rattled in a few over the years but never killed one while doing it. Best advice I can give is be prepared to shoot down wind & be prepared to shoot fast. They won't hang around long. Stalking & rattling is a fun way to hunt if you are bored with sitting & watching.

It works in the right conditions... I’ll add that I’ve had better luck tickling them then throwing them together like an all out fight. Like others have said, watch your downwind side. When they can’t find where the ruckus is coming from they try to sniff it out.

Does rattling typically work better in the morning or in the evening? Ive seen a few rattled up in the morning, but thinking about it idk if I've ever tried it in the evening

We get a lot of response to rattling where we hunt in Macon County. I've seen 6 different bucks rattled up on a cold morning over looking a clearcut. I've had more success in the mornings.

You better smell like a deer & keep your movement to a minimum. The birds or squirrels you're hearing may not be birds or squirrels. I've never killed one rattling that didn't come slipping in. I use to buy scent candles called hot trails-they be good. The woods have to be fairly quiet to rattle or you won't be able to distinguish what you're hearing.

In my experiences, the deer circle and come downwind of me when I grunt or rattle 95 percent of the time. Of those encounters, I’ve been blown at 75 percent of the time so I prefer only to grunt or rattle when I see a buck with my eyes first. Blindly rattling or grunting gives away your position and may lead you to getting busted.

I've never hadone anyou success rattling. I haven't done it a little but a few times. I have on the other hand gad several bucks come in over the years when using calls. At one time I didn't even like going without a deer call

Same.
They come in circling has been my experience.
I rattled in a 140-inch 10-pt several years ago in a big CRP field. He came in behind me, spooked when I turned and I missed a running shot. I made mistake of telling my buddy about the episode. Now this fella is unorthodox but deadly. A couple days later, he slipped the CRP field, got the buck up and kilt it.
I learned a lesson from all that and it wasn’t about rattling.
It’s prime rattling season here in north Alabama until Jan 10-15 or so.
