So I sold a truck to a guy a couple months ago. Signed over the title to the buyer, and now the guy is wanting me to sign an affidavit to change the title into some one else’s name. Is this normal? Is there any recourse for the seller? He’s one of our brothers from south of the boarder so I’m guessing it has to do with residency, or am I way off? This is the first vehicle I’ve sold by owner and I’m a little skeptical about signing this. [Linked Image]

Assuming he owned it legally, which may not be the case....

As the original seller, I don't think you have to do anything. You've got your money, right?

I can’t really see the papers but I had that pulled on me. Turned out the guy never changed it into his name. I don’t know if that’s what you’re dealing with or not

Nope. You have your money and his signature on your copy of the bill of sale. Tell him to pound sand.

"Customer changed mind" is the reason? That's a lie, so I wouldn't sign it. I'm guessing he's just trying to get it registered in someone else's name, but that's not your problem.

Then I’d say it’s not your problem. I’m all for helping somebody if there was a problem that couldn’t be avoided but sounds like he created his own problem of some sort.

He is trying to re-sell the truck without titling it in his name to avoid paying sales / ad-velorum tax.

Only way he can do this is to have it titled in his name then sign new title over.

Yes,
He's avoiding paying tax, on making a profit, or avoiding paying penalties or late fees for failure to register whould be my guess.
Tell him your Aldeer lawyers advise you to not sign anything.

God Bless,

This^^^. I've sold two vehicles to folks from Mexico and they both wanted to leave title blank. I wouldn't do it and they bought them anyway.
