Couple buddies of mine were traveling Hwy 84 between Coffeeville and Grove Hill one night this weekend when one of them saw a strange animal that had long front legs, short back legs with black spots on it's hide, no tail, and erect pointed ears. He wanted his buddy to turn around to get another look but his buddy wouldn't turn around. So he immedieatly began consulting with Siri, determined to find out what it was. He got his answer... a Hyena. So he continued his consultation by inquiring about Zoo escapees during during Hurricane Michael and came to the conclusion that the Hyena escaped when a zoo there was destroyed. I first suggested that what he saw was a coyote taking a dump on the side of the road, hence the short hind legs and no tail part, but he wouldn't have it. He is absolutely convinced is was a hyena. I then suggested that if he is sure of that, then he needs to call it in and report the sighting so they can come round up this dangerous critter before someone gets et. Naturally, he's reluctant to do that, so if any of ya'll know of this zoo escapee, please let me know so I can convince him to call it in.

P.S. No jokes please. This is a serious question. He knows what he saw.

I won't joke because back in the mid 90's I saw a pair of'em cross the road 30 yards in front of me. One stopped and looked back at me for a few seconds before bolting after it's mate. I can't explain it but I know what I saw...stone sober.

I won't say it wasn't a hyena he saw, but I did see a black panther in the mid 70's.

All these sightings and thousands of trail cams, and still no pics rofl

One bear walks through Ensley or Alexandria and it’s on Facebook in 4.2 seconds.

I agree with the mis-identified coyote...Or a tucked tail german shepherd maybe.

Did the destroyed zoo even have an hyena at the time??

Don't know. He's the one who consulted Siri. I've never seen a hyena at a zoo, but then I haven't been to many zoos (animal zoos that is)

Round ‘bout there

Only a handful of legitimately accredited zoos in the United States have hyenas.

I'd bet a gazillion dollars there wasn't a zoo anywhere in the path of Michael that had a hyena, much less one that survived, escaped and made it across southern Alabama to somewhere along a highway between Coffeeville and Grove Hill.

If your friend is so utterly convinced he saw a hyena and is worried about it being dangerous, why is he reluctant to contact someone to report it?
