I am planning to take some customers to a guided duck hunt in Arkansas or Missouri and was thinking of December or possibly January. What is your thoughts on the months and the best guides to go with.

I would have to take a hard look at what the conditions are. Much of the good areas were under water for a lot of the year and a lot of crop area wasn’t planted. Our crop guys that hunt say they don’t expect to have a very good season with the lack of food.
If you do the things you need to do when you need to do them then someday you can do the things you want to do when you want to do them.

Ducks And Dogs guide service is worth a look at. X2, I went up there a couple of years ago and Randy has very nice operation especially for taking customers. Everything was frozen while we were there but they still made it work for us. Good food, nice lodge, good guides.

There will be no lack of food...just row crop food. The wild millet that grows holds more birds than any row crop except rice ever thought about. No w there may not be any water unless it's pumped and that's a whole nuther issue. Whatever you do don't wait to book it. Every good lodge will be booked if not already. I’m just telling him what they told me. I think they know about natural food sources. Both said the same thing: too much water to plant and water stayed so long they didn’t think the native plants would make much forage for them. Obviously that is just two individual observations from their respective areas, but since they are both duck hunters and agronomists, and also each covers a sales territory, I tend to put a little credibility in what they tell me. I would just call and ask the guides. Any that are recommended here are likely good folks and will give you their honest opinion.
If you do the things you need to do when you need to do them then someday you can do the things you want to do when you want to do them.

Another vote for Byers hunt club. They have a lot of land and he’d shoot straight with you as to what to expect
Cason is a straight shooter.
