Broke down and got me a Wood Haven Real Hen box call. any suggestions out there for a good chalk to use.

I have one I would've sold ya cheap. I don't like mine.

Chalk should not make a difference. I've run some of those and have been hit or miss. Prob needs some adjusting or maybe sanding. Those paddles come really loose and not sure if they have a spring.

call Woodhaven; i think mine came w/red chalk - ask them how to re-condition & setup their box call ...

Get you some 400 grit sand paper if you don’t have any chalk

I use the red chalk I always see at walmart. I use it as a locater call and cut very aggressively with it when I want to fire them up. Last season was the first time using it and 5 birds fell to that call so it has a place in my vest this year.

Still wanna get rid of it?

Use 125 grit or 100 grit drag it down length of the paddle if ya think it's getting to slick even with chalk. What ever chalk ya get make sure it doesn't have wax additives in it! Forestry Supply use to have chalk rail road chalk to be exact was good stuff!
