Very new to loading, just getting my feet wet and im having a blast. My question is whats yalls favorite recipe for a .243 deer load. Just picked up an old Winchester and would like some guidance on bullet/powder combo, just somewhere to start.

Thanks in advance

Load some 100gr. Partitions or Hornady Interlocks pretty hot with some IMR4831 or 4350.

41.5 gr of imr 4350 with a 95gr ballistic tip works well.

If I agreed with you, we'd both be wrong.

95gr Nosler Partition over 4350 for many years.

I also had very good luck with 4350 and Ballistic tips.

You gonna pull them pistols, or whistle Dixie?

The partitions or ballistic tips will do fine on deer, you will get better accuracy out of the ballistic tips but better penetration with partitions.

Superformance and 80gr ttsx works well at around 3400fps. 95gr BT is a 243 standard whitetail load

My Ruger American likes 100 Gr. Sierra (Pro Hunter I think) on IMR 4831. I'm not at home right now, but can get details later if you want them.
