Here is the story
Day one, his first true turkey hunt.Got to camp and turk tracks everywhere, saw a small group of hens working through the woods. he was fired up for the next morning. We set up on the edge of a powerline try locator call nothing, about a half hr I hit the pot call with some soft purring and clucks, power gobble about 100yds up a pine ridge. I swear if I could capture the look in my sons eyes when he heard that first gobble, it was something I will remember forever. We called but he kept trucking.

day two, set up where we thought he was roosting, daybreak comes we got 3 gobbling and one moving behind us, kept on trucking. but getting closer.

day three, evening hunt in his living room, bout dusk hens move through and we here them going on the roost, right at dark he gobbles one time and we are set for the morning. At this point I am starting to think my son is losing faith in his old man's skills. to top it off that night all heck breaks loose with the weather, he keeps asking me if they will be there in the morning?

Day four, we head out to the spot, get there just as light starts, we brought one loan hen decoy set her up just down hill in an old logging road, we get set and wait, the plan was, we will wait until he gobbles and then we will move if needed. first gobble he is up behind us, we spin in place thinking he is still on the limb, i hit the pot call wi th a soft yelp, boom!! gobbles all around us, I hit the mouth call with the best flydown cackle i can. I look up and he is coming straight at my son at 20 yrds, I whispered killem, bang flop, turkeys running all around me I looked like barney fyffe when the armored car guy threw him the machine gun. I couldnt get on any of them. but he filled ol bob's face full of 20 gauge fed heavy #7. Best day of hunting I have had in a long time, he learned you have to constantly work to beat turkeys.
