I bought my daughter the savage axis youth model .243. It shoots Remington Core lokt 100 grain bullets very well.

Shoot 95gr fusions and they are tack drivers and will put one heck of a hole in them if they run off they leave a good blood trail

I have had good results with Federal premium ammunition in every caliber I've tried.

My 7 yr old shoots an axis in 7mm-08. I use the reduced recoil core-lokts. He shot his second deer last week with it. Clean pass through both shoulders at 70 yds. (80 lb doe)

I got the same in a .22-250 for my daughter. I hunt with 3 different savage rifles and for some reason they all love Winchester Power Points so thats all I buy. Cheaper too. Mine didnt group as well with others.

My boy has one. It's sighted in with Hornady American Whitetails but they suck. No pass throughs and no blood trails. I'm working up a 85gr TSX load for it.

brother got the axis in 30/06. after zeroing, long as he keeps the barrel cool the bullet holes touch eachother @ 100. this was a box of winchester deer season xp in 150 grain. awesome gun for the money, hate the way the bolt slaps against the scope though. my 2 cents
