Could be from anywhere then or could be a local bird. We will never know. Now if it was banded in like July then I would say definitely a local bird but being banded and shot within a 2 or 3 week period 2 years apart it could have been from anywhere and just happened to get banded and shot in the same general area of its path of migration or it could just be a local bird. Very cool though.

On of our pals killed a banded dove on opening day around Scottsboro on LUMPY's Dad's farm. It was the first one I had ever seen. I reckon it was banded less than a month prior...in Scottsboro. LOL! Really cool regardless!

Congrats
Did I miss a cold front? Can't imagine wearing a long sleeve shirt in the past week.

Very neat!
So where did you kill it and how far is Pea Ridge from where you shot it?

Very cool though. I don't think they migrate as much as people think. At least our birds, we do see the bigger northern dove later on. I think that they are similar to wood ducks, might migrate more east to west than north to south. I think they key in on food sources than move south. When they leave the fields it seems they cover up the fresh cutovers. I had a field divided in three, millet, sunflower, WGF and corn to bush hog down. A pumpkin patch in the middle and then a top sewn wheat field prepared the week of dove season. We had a heck of a shoot. They were trying to light in the pumpkin patch. Was kinda weird until we cleaned them, they were full of little black seeds from some kinda grass. I'd kept the pumpkin patch kind of clean to help the pumpkins. Here's a neat link to some older research. https://www.fws.gov/news/Historic/NewsReleases/1940/19400526.pdf

That's cool.
Are you gonna put the band on the lanyard of your dove calls?
