Nice striper!

In my opinion that is a STRIPER...If not, you threw away a record...I would have had it checked.....The STATE record for a HYBRID STRIPED BASS is just shy of 26 POUNDS..Look it up. http://www.outdooralabama.com/state-record-freshwater-fish Biggest Hybrid I ever caught was around 13 pounds...But the state record Hybrid was caught in the SIPSEY FORK. Most all stripes I caught were on LOGAN or LAY....Biggest STRIPER on LAY was 48 pounds. We caught them at night on a crank bait in spring fed creeks in June/July and August. The biologist told me that Stripe was probably landlocked when they built the concrete Lay Dam back in 1967. http://gadsdenmessenger.com/2014/10/10/lay-dam-has-rich-history/ . He estimated that fish to be about 46 years old due to a scale he took from it. Caught in 1998. None the less..... VERY NICE FISH SIR !!! CONGRATS TO YOU on a GREAT DAY!!!

I just fished some spring fed creeks on lay yesterday. I have caught a pile of striper and hybrids and know the difference. The lake I was in is not even stocked for striper or hybrids. They get in through the locks. One of those spots on lay has big striper swimming everywhere but they won't hit a thing.

Lay dam was built in 1914. It was renovated and expanded in 1967.

That's a saltwater striper. Looks nothing at all like a hybrid. Some stripers just have broken lines.

Yeah c’mon. Daniel White

I already said that... grin grin

I handled the 26# hybrid that is the state record. What a pig, it was near as deep as it was long. Huge fish.

Yup, I concur. Hybrid is going to be more football shaped than that, every time. My buddies and I have caught several large hybrids but If we caught one that size, there would be phones blowing up everywhere. By large Hybrids, I mean 15-21 lbs. My personal best is just shy of 18. Stripers now, we don't get too excited until the scale hits 30+.

To the OP. Congrats on a great STRIPER.
