Any of y'all do this? My wife says she can tell the difference between an oven baked and microwave baked. I call bullchit. I put em in a Ziploc baggie and they come out perfect. I think they are better than oven baked. They peel right of the skin. Oven baked seems to stick to the skin. May be just me. Figured I would post it now cuz we sitting here arguing about the damn things now.

The wife is a potatoholic so we cook a lot of them... I prefer them baked in the oven or, even better, on the grill.

Sig Sauer, to hell and back reliable.

Whatever suits you just tickles me plum to death.

Can I refill your eggnog for you? Get you something to eat? Drive you out to the middle of nowhere and leave you for dead?

No difference in taste to me.

A potato is just a vessel for bacon, cheese, butter, sour cream, chives, etc.

No difference to me. I put a coffee mug full of water in there with them. Someone told me it keeps it moist.

Nukem so you don't turn the oven on when it's hot in the summer. I usually poke some holes in them with a fork and wrap in a damp paper towel.

Taters should only be cooked in a skillet with bacon grease and a Vidalia onion.

Taste is the same but the texture is different. I prefer a drier texture from baking but not so much that I don't concede to convenience and nuke from time to time.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

I like eating the peelings and I like the peeling to be kind of oven baked, so there is only one way I bake a potato... OK two ways:

Scrub potato.
Dry it.
Rub it down with oil.
Salt the outside.
Wrap in aluminum foil.
Bake in oven for about 1 hour

Preferred method...

Bake in the coals of a camp/cabin fire.

If anyone ever sees me cooking something in a microwave oven on one of my food posts they need to drive over here and slap the shyt out a me... grin

This is the proper method for cooking taters. I like the salty/oily skin too. Best part of the tater.

Microwave here.

My bride has some Tupperware potatoes cooker that holds water in the bottom part and the potatoes sit above it. They are better to me than an oven baked potatoe and it takes 10 minutes.
