I thinking about getting my Dad a 20 ga. auto for fathers day and was hoping to gain some information about what ya'll suggest. I'm looking for something with a wood finish, excellent reliability, super low recoil and very light weight, will be used exclusively as a bird gun. I would also love some pics of your recommendations. Thanks,

I've got a Browning Gold Hunter 20 gauge. Its a fine gun for bird hunting. I bought it because I couldn't afford a Citori or a 686, but it has served me well for the last 5 or so seasons.

Beretta AL391 Teknis is a really good choice. Very light recoil and you can get one plain or fancy depending on what you want to spend.

Remington 1100, 26 inch improved cylinder. Light, low recoil and dependable.

I have been using one for 20 years, my favorite shotgun of the four I own by far.

What's your price range?

Another vote for the beretta.

Do you want to hear him gobble, or do you want to kill him.

to some degree price is not a factor. With that being said I would much rather find one closer to 1000, than 2000. Franchi has a couple different ones that look nice for closer to 900 and according to the specs are right at 6 lbs. I haven't looked hard but at first glance beretta didn't show the weight of the 391 Teknis. And does benelli make an m2 with a wood stock? Also I know that a 20 ga. has very little recoil but I wonder if I would be happier going with gas operated instead of recoil?

the Benelli M2 is the hardest kicking 20 ga I own that being said I would look at the new Weatherby sa-08 they went through a redesign and I haven't heard alot of complaints, but it is a gun for hunting.
