Anybody hunted Virginia? I may have an opportunity to go up there the second half of April, just wondering if anyone has had any experience up that way.

I have a friend who lives in Lee County, VA who says he's flat covered up. I been considering going out there and hunting with him a time or two

It's a "hit or miss" place. I would want to know credible info about the area you are being invited to hunt. And if the property is in the mountain side of the state, start exercising now. I have a friend from Bluefield and that terrain is tough.

It's up in the northern part of the state not far from the WV line. I don't know much about the place, I just got invited to go and wanting to make sure it's worth the trip.

anywhere you get an opportunity to hunt turkeys is worth looking into,I would do a little research for myself, but if you have friends or family there to hunt with could be a good hunt regardless!

I would rather be turkey hunting

I hunt in VA in the south central area and turkeys are fairly plentiful. A new place to hunt is always worth looking into!

Yeah I feel the same way, but I have about 10 days where I'm trying to squeeze some hunts in and I'm just trying to see what my best options are.

I cut my teeth hunting in Virginia. My dad grew up there and the farm is still in the family. Killed my first bird there in the fall season. Used to do some fall hunting. Only spring turkey I ever killed in the snow was there. I'd check it out. I always liked to go last week of April or first week of May. We would turkey hunt mornings, trout fish afternoons. Good times but those mountains are rugged.

On the distance I like to walk to my stands:

I just moved from there this past summer and turkey hunted public land in Central VA the last two years. Feel free to shoot me a PM.

I just moved to Northern Virginia/DC this fall from Alabama. It took me about a month to find a club. My club is about 1.5 south of DC in Caroline County. It's covered in turkeys. I cant wait for the season to come in. I also plant to hunt a few of the military bases.

Virginia is a BIG dog deer hunting state. Most of all clubs are dog hunting. But surprisingly, turkey hunting isn't as popular as back home in Bama. I think that I'm the only hardcore turkey hunter on 3,000 acres.

I'm in the southwest part. Lee county does have some birds unfortunately it's all public as far as I know. There's several counties that boarder west va. If it's in one of the west of the blue ridge counties it can be pretty rough. The eastern part has more agriculture, more birds and a lot easier terrain. Western part is a lot of big mountains, rough terrain and less birds but still a good population. You should go. I think you will have a good time
