Cold trail my, great, great grandfather, Josiah Brackin, founded the Blackwoods Community Church in Henry county in 1889, and him and several other Brackin and Kirkland men served for the Confederacy. He was a teacher and pastor at the church. I have his original state of Alabama teaching certificate, which is one of my most prized possessions. I can't imagine they didn't know each other. I've got a couple pics of him and a family reunion pic there at Blackwoods in 1892. If I can get them on my phone, I'll post them. Thanks for posting the picture. Love seeing them and learning more history.

WhiteCityHunter this side of my family was not to far from blackwoods. They lived in the center community on and around the east fork of the Choctawhatchee.
My 3rd great grandfather fought in the revolutionary war then moved to the area around 1821. He built the first bridge across the choctawhatchee.

That is an amazing family heirloom. I could look at old pics like that all day long, especially the ones with Alabama history tied to them.
Get the F out of the BATFE. The F is guaranteed by the US Constitution. Those other letters are not.

Very, very cool. Some of my mothers first cousins had a picture of my G G Grandfather on his horse, in full uniform, holding his saber, taken during the Civil War. He was a Captain in the 14th AL. They tried to take it out of the frame and it disintegrated. I could have killed them.
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

That is an amazing family heirloom. I could look at old pics like that all day long, especially the ones with Alabama history tied to them. My father has one of my great grand father and family. Great grand mother was full bloodied Cherokee Indian and she is holding my Grandmother who was about three months old at the time the picture was made. This is the only picture of them. He is holding a Long Tom shotgun and Has his pocket watch stuck in his vest pocket. He also had his dog sitting beside him. That was about all he owned. It would probably fall all to pieces if you were to reframe the picture.
I can't stand a thief.
