Wear one it saved my brothers life yesterday morning. My mother called yesterday at 7am frantically telling me to get to him as quick as possible that he was hanging by his harness but can't get back to tree and my dad was going to try to help. Well I jump up and start that way and my brother calls me saying he was able to swing back to tree and get down safely. Climbed back up to see what went wrong and the summit lockon dumped him straight over the front. It came out of its bracket somehow and dumped him straight over. Every loop on his safety harness snapped as he fell but kept him safe.
This is the pic I woke up too

Could have been bad, tree stand is 25'up and there is nothing but rocks under it.

Im glad to finally hear a good story about a tree stand accident. Seems like most we hear about don't end that good. A big thumbs up for your brother staying smart and wearing that harness.

Glad he is ok.

Best Christmas gift my wife ever gave me was a top-notch safety harness. I've never had a full fall but there are a couple of times when my climber shifted or slipped on a hardwood tree and I was very glad I was well tied on to a tree.

Glad he's ok. Good on him for wearing his harness. Pretty much guarantees you'll never see me hunting out of a lock on!

What else is a fella going to do while hanging from a tree, waiting on help?

The way I joke, I'd probably need proof of a picture for someone to come get me.

Praise the Lord he's ok. Great Christmas present he got early!!

God Bless,

Aren't the loops supposed to break to slow down the jolt of the fall?

Loops are supposed to break so they did their job..he took the pic and sent it while hanging there. He was waiting on me and my dad then said he thought he could swing over to tree but it was tough because he fell straight forward. You won't find a more athletic person than him and he said there was no time to react he just grabbed his harness and braced himself and it was a whole lot harder to to get tree than he thought. After about 5 minutes of trying he finally got to tree and had to unsnap harness and climb down. I hung that stand 3 weeks ago and hunted out of it with no problem.

That's what a lot of people don't realize. And it's why I switched to a rock climbing harness. I am FAR from "athletic" so I know it'd be nearly impossible for me to self rescue in a traditional harness. I need every advantage possible.
