I'm a pretty good shot with a pistol and ultimately put 9 holes in him in addition to the one my dad put with his 30-06. Last time I'll not have a rifle or shotgun tracking a deer.

ChrisAU OP 8 point Joined: Dec 2014 Posts: 1,613 SE Alabama	Traded my 1911 for a Ruger Super Blackhawk 44 Rem Mag today...and ordered some 300 grain Hornady's for it...will never, ever shoot a small handgun round at a deer again. Knowing now how little a .40 S&W does at close range to an old brute I feel bad for making his last minutes that much more agonizing.
