How do you attract ducks to ponds? Not gonna hunt those ponds where I want to attract them to until next year or later on in the season.

There's really nothing you can do at this point to attract ducks legally. Either they want to be there or they don't. in general best way to attempt to attract ducks is planting and flooding which would require drawing down your ponds in the summer.

Load it up with corn if you aren't going to hunt it

How do I throw the corn in there? Just put a few bags on the bank or throw it in the water where it fairly shallow?

Be careful what you wish for. Our ponds are visited frequently by geese and ducks. We now have a real problem with water meal that is going to be expensive to get rid of. To me, knowing what I know now, wishing for ducks and geese on your private pond is about the same as the landowner that tries to attract hogs.

Many have offered, but I've got family that are hardcore waterfowlers.

Are they not good enough if you have a problem?

Geese only have to land once. If they have water meal on their bellies, you got a problem.

They love Sweetfeed. It is in pellet form and has molasses in it.

Unless you can drain and plant it you are wasting your time for the most part.

They are dabblers so the feed can be from a few inches to a foot or so deep. Unless they are in the area naturally you will most likely just be wetting corn.

I have a lot of buffleheads in the area, you think corn will work great for them because they are divers?

Buffies will probably eat corn, but you will probably have a tough time attracting them to a small pond. Plus they taste horrible, so unless I am going to mount a drake they get a pass from me.
