I have my grandpas 30 carbine that he bought when he discharged from the army after WWII and I also have a bayonet that he had and I assumed it went with the 30 carbine although I could never get it to fit. Today I started doing some research and found out it was a German M1884 bayonet for Mausers. Not sure exactly what circumstances to acquire a German bayonet but I got some ideas. Anyway really cool the numbers stamped on blade and scabbard say it was made in 1943 and serial numbers were 6365 fairly low when you think about how many Mausers were issued during WWII.

I got one just like it. Wife's Uncle took it from a German soldier when the Battle of the Bulge was starting to favor us. Her uncle sharpened it looks like on a grinder and kinda messed the blade up some. He gave it to me before he passed about 15 years ago. I don't think they are worth much but they are great conversation pieces.

Her Uncle always said " if that thing could talk." I can only hope it never killed an American soldier. You would bleed out quick if that thing was stuck through you.

I can't stand a thief.

Very cool! I have one just like it, as well as some other bring backs. Not worth much $ wise but still one of my most prized possessions.
