Hi all,

I am looking for a summer job in the outdoors/agriculture field. I'm new to the forum but I just wanted to throw a post here to see if anyone has any ideas of people/companies to contact. I am a current undergrad student in Birmingham and I plan on going to grad school for agriculture economics with a focus on farm management. I'm really just looking for either an Ag job this summer to gain some professional experience or a job in the hunting/outdoors field such as maybe working for an outfitter even something to the terms of general labor. I just would like to do something I enjoy this summer and learn a few things.

Does anyone have any contacts or maybe they know of a company with a summer internship or job program for college students? Maybe they have a buddy who just needs some help on his farm this summer? I've looked all over the web with no luck so any help or insight would be huge. Thank yall for any help.

Welcome to AlDeer. There's a good chance one of the guys on here can help you out. If you were down this way I could try to help you get on a boat fishing this summer.

Take a look on USAJOBS.gov. The USDA - FSA/NRCS etc... hires Summer intern positions all over the country. If you want to go do something different in a part of the US you have never been it can be a fun Summer gig.

Welcome to Aldeer, good luck in the job hunt. I love your screen name. I used to have a licence plate that said the same thing.

Don't know about summer jobs, but just letting you know Alfa has great scholarships for ag students. You need to look into that if you haven't already.

Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

You need to look for an internship with an ag company. AFC, Gavilon, and Bunge are a few grain companies that have programs. What are you planning on getting your undergrad in?

My undergrad is in economics and I'm a current junior which makes it a little tougher to get into Ag programs. But I'm going to look into those companies and their programs
