I remember last year Alabama Whitetail records were going to make a drive to measure and record big deer from each county. I think the only thing I ever saw for Jackson etc was a scorer a day or so at Gander mtn with not much interest. What if we had a meet and greet with a scorer or two there and get some deer entered. I would enjoy looking at some big old local bucks and putting faces with some names.Any thoughts?

None of my deer are gonna make any "records", but I would like to have them officially measured, just so I can't lie about their size.

I think they have to be 130 or maybe 140 to get in that.

Ive shot more then a few big bucks and have had them measured and scored because my taxidermist likes to measure them, but Im not into any record books.
I considered taking my 170 I shot last season to the deer expo..but my friends didnt want people to know where it came from or we would be fighting off trespassers all year they thought.

115 for State with bow. I've got one in the book with a bow. I've got a 12 point that would probably make book with a bow, but haven't entered it, yet. If it was relatively close, I'd be interested.

That's a big area to poach...LOL

Basically anything 2Dogs has shot in the past 20 years would make it, he would be the title holder for most entries.

The records the DCNR are doing I think is the one you're talkin' about. Matt Brock is an offical scorer. May be others closer, but I'm unsure. Bucks must NET 140" typ, don't sound like much , but net 140 is a pretty tall order. The guys at Harbin Automotive in Scottsboro were kicking around the idea of a scoring session, haven't heard anything on it in a while though.

There you go again. NOT! Mine have too much in the minus catagory. It's B&C with deductions, so it rewards clean racks.

The new record system State DCNR just started does. The "book" that's been around about 25 years or so, Alabama Whitetail Records does not, goes by gross only.

If you're talking the new State DCNR records, pretty sure it's P&Y/B&C, 140" net typ. for a gun kill. The old Alabama Whitetail Record book that's been around for years is 150" gross for gun kills. Two totaly different things.

We had a scoring session in Tanner a couple of weeks with hardly any participation. If you guys can gain enough interest and justify a couple of us spending a few hours somewhere scoring deer we can make it happen.
Entry requirements are NET 140 typical, 165 non-typical according to B&C scoring system. Like 2Dogs said NET 140 is a tall order, but there are dozens of them hanging on walls in north AL that have never been scored.
RAWD is not to be confused with Dennis Campbell's system North American White-tailed Records, which was the previous AL book. RAWD entry requirements are higher, and coordinated through AL WFF Division.
