You do realize that no state government has anything to do with the prices of COE lands right? They’re a federal government agency and Chuck has nothing to do with that.

I did not. I stand corrected on this matter.

More than welcome to find something else to gripe about though. Just didn’t know if you knew the state didn’t set COE permit pricing.

[quote=Clem]

"Aw, it's just a few dollars. Don't you care about conservation?"

That's the familar refrain, ain't it? If you complain about the Corps increase, the bait permit, the night hunting permit, the license increase, the WMA permit increase, every other kind of increase -- then you're just a sorry POS who doesn't care about conservation.

It's just a latte or couple of six-packs. C'mon, now, pay THE MAN your fair share for the land you've already paid for.

It's easier every year to understand why people say "Eff the government" and don't buy licenses or permits.

BTW, the "bait permit privilege" fee probably will increase again this year if it hasn't already, and it definitely will next year.

Went up this year to 17

^^^^^^thats a 13.33% increase on the illegal baiting license. Inflation is up. You didn’t think Chuckie was going to keep on working for the good of Alabama’s wildlife and Alabama’s hunters, like he’s done so diligently since he was appointed by the 100 yr old lush. You can’t expect a man that is that good and effective at his job, to continue doing it year after year, without his annual compensatory raise, did you?????? Budgets are tight, money has to come from somewhere and h7hters are rich and can afford it. Don’t believe me, just look at lease prices.

Don't pay it. They don't have any way to enforce it. All they do it write sternly worded warnings.

Pretty sure that State GWs can write fully enforceable tickets on COE land.

I understand the frustration but the problem is that they really don’t care if you pay or not.

If you don’t pay and get caught it’s more money to the state for tickets.
If you say screw it and don’t hunt it they didn’t lose anything and it’s one less person on the property.
If you say it’s only $15 and pay then they got some money out of it.

They are essentially using their power to write tickets to extort people on land they have already paid for

They don't write tickets for not paying the COE boat launch fees.

I don't mind paying $15 if they help the wildlife by planting food plots. In MS, we have paid $15 for a number of years on WMA's. The money is supposedly earmarked for food plots and wildlife management practices. Those funds have been rerouted to one region of our state - the Delta. Once thriving food plots are now grown up areas with useless sweet gums.

LMAO they couldnt make improvements with the millions of tax dollars we already sent them, but you're right, the obvious answer is to keep sending them money. I am sure that will work

For the record, I don't want improvements, I just want unimpeded access to land my taxes have already paid for . Just vast, untouched wilderness is what I want.....it is not anyone's job to make the hunting "better" for me, it is their job to make sure I have access to federal land my taxes have paid for
