Something that will power a small johnboat around a 7 acre pond for several hours. What should I get?

I second lithium. I have a 100ah for my 2-man boat, but a smaller ah would have done fine. It’s saves your back loading, toting, and doesn’t weigh down boat. Only issue is you will need a compatible charger.

Yeah, that lithium i posted says it weighs 12lbs but i really think it weighs less than that

I run a 24 volt Minn Kota Maxxum off 2 of the 12 volt 50 ah lithiums that are similar to the one jwalker posted. They reduced the weight in the boat from 120 pounds down to about 25 and they work the same. Mine came from Amazon and were about the same price, but they were on sale at the time.

I don't know enough to say that one brand is better than another. They are all made in China, but when you can get them for about the same price as lead acid I think it's worth the risk. They at least have the potential to last many years, and the lighter weight and lack of acid is a big advantage.

Years ago I had a small lawn mower size deep cycle that went everywhere with us. We ran a little 17hp motor with it. Did fine for 2-3 hours

i just picked up the largest deep cycle Walmart carries for $120 - the last one i had last 10 years ... the key is to put it back on the charger right after a trip & speed charge it back to 100% & then put it on tender mode

The lithium bat trees are great for several reasons. That said, I had to replace the one on my camper last week and picked up a regular old lead acid group 31 from Rural King for $99. I don't think my camper converter/ charger will work with a lithium so that's about the best deal I could find.
